IRONMAN SA

Standard

Over 10 years ago, I made a deal with Barbara Cole that we would do an Ironman before I turned 30… well that day has come and gone, and Barbara (the legend that she is) has done one. I have spent my time on my backside, in either a K4, a K1 or my surf ski, and until I finish racing competitively, I don’t see any extra time for running and biking.

That doesn’t stop my stoke for the Ironman event, which is why I am going to watch it in PE on Sunday. I always get so inspired watching this event. People of all shapes and sizes come out in their thousands, and totally dominate the tarmac.  I take my hat off to each and every competitor, and their better halves for putting up with all that training time away from home:)

I am really interested to watch Chrissie Wellington race, as she has been totally dominating this ultra-distance since she made her late start into the sport. She regularly finishes in the Top 10 overall, and I think she will crack a top 5 soon.

On my training front, I have been putting n the hard yards after being sick (on top of 2 weeks of rest). So I am feeling a bit broken, have blisters, and general aches and pains! Loving it though!

I will post some photos after Ironman.
